The Accelerate, Innovate, Move (AIM) Assessment is a Microsoft Business Applications partner activity. A partner conducts a functional and technical review of a customer's current on-premises Dynamics solution and delivers an assessment report with a capability overview, dependencies, recommendations, and next steps — the basis for a tailored migration plan to Dynamics 365 in the cloud.
For a Business Central buyer still on Dynamics NAV, GP, SL, or Business Central on-premises, an AIM Assessment is usually the first structured step. The functional side maps your current processes and customisations to what Business Central online now does out of the box, and flags third-party add-ons that cloud features may replace. The technical side sizes the integrations, database, custom code, reports, and licensing that the migration will touch, and recommends an approach: lift and shift, hybrid, or reimplementation.
Partners on this page have told us they deliver AIM Assessments. Microsoft ties the assessment to migration offers, so ask the partner which offers you qualify for and whether they combine the assessment with an Envisioning Workshop or Solution Assessment.

AIM Assessment: FAQs
What is a Microsoft AIM Assessment?
AIM stands for Accelerate, Innovate, Move. The AIM Assessment is a partner-delivered functional and technical review of a customer's on-premises Dynamics system that produces a migration plan to Dynamics 365 in the cloud, including recommendations, dependencies, and next steps.
Is an AIM Assessment a Microsoft designation?
No. It is a Business Applications partner activity that partners deliver, not a Solutions Partner designation or badge. Many partners that deliver it also hold the Business Applications pathway, but the two are separate.
Who should ask for an AIM Assessment?
Organisations running Dynamics NAV, Dynamics GP, Dynamics SL, or Business Central on-premises that are considering Business Central online. Contact a partner on this page or your Microsoft representative to request one and to check which migration offers you qualify for.
